Labor Day Week

Okay let's hang up our hoodies, go back in time and pretend it is still summer, sniff.
We were lucky that Jeff took the whole week off before Labor Day and we spent a nice long rest up at Higgins Lake.
A little light reading on the beach
Someone else had to join in with their own chair

Frolicking

One day we drug ourselves away from the beach and off the beaten path to try a hike in the woods.  The kids zoomed off down the path...

and Miles prompltly tripped over a downed tree limb and skinned his knee.  He bounded up ready to go for more but after that and all the hunters gunfire that we could hear we decided to make a detour.  We didn't realize until later that Miles also bashed his lip when he fell and had a big blood blister on it - Little Mr. Tough!

Our detour led us to a roadside oddity we saw en route to our ill-fated hike:  Cindy Lou's Zoo!  They had a range of animals from farm animals, deers shown here to exotic monkeys, lemur, camel, bobcat and free roaming pot-bellied pigs.  The kids fed carrots aplenty to the animals but the biggest attraction to them was the random of assortment of plastic slides and playhouses that they had.  Go figure!

So over the animals!

Iris said her favorite animals were the ducks.  Guess we could have saved our money.

Photo op on a high up tree stump back at the lake
If you are wondering why there are no pictures of anyone else it is because our camera battery died during the week before others arrived and we forgot the charger.  Doh!  But rest assured we had a great time with everyone and were so happy to see the McNeils minus Zoe who had already headed off to Juillaird - Hooray!
