We finally made a much overdue trip south of the border to see our friends Mike and Vanessa in Nogales,

co. It was Iris' first time there to meet Vanessa, unless in-utero counts. We mostly hung out at their house along with all of our dogs. It was hospitality from the get go - a beer offered within moments of crossing the threshold, a homemade lunch, mexican fruit salad with chili powder, etc. We even had sushi delivered to the house (Yeah, you heard me, DELIVERED - only in Mexico!) This was plan B when we adjusted our dinner plans due to an early evening Iris sleep crash preceded by no naps. We made up for it by heading out for a scrumptious brunch buffet the next day. I even got to finally try corn smut (an edible fungus that grows on corn), but since I had it in my omelet with mushrooms, cheese, onions, chili peppers and smothered with salsa, I still don't know how it tastes. It was time to say our goodbyes before we knew it. Iris who can be stingy with hugs gave Vanessa a big, double-armed one as we were leaving. Just good times catching up with old friends that we don't see nearly enough.

Their other dog Nena was mistaken for a cat by Iris. She said "Meow" everytime she saw her. Maybe that's why she's looking sad :(

Iris had a block breakthrough the evening we got back from Mexico. Maybe we need to venture across borders more often! Previously she could only stack 3 or 4 blocks but while I was checking my email I looked up and she had a tower
10 blocks high! While she was flexed her dexterity muscles she was extra goofy from tiredness. So we started rolling video. We recorded for over 12 minutes but we'll spare you with the edited version.
